Data Architect

We are looking for a senior data architect to lead architecture engagements for our enterprise clients. You will own the technical direction on complex data platform builds — from initial assessment through production delivery — working directly with CTOs, VPs of Data, and engineering teams.

What You'll Do

  • Lead data architecture assessments for new and existing enterprise clients — diagnosing current state, identifying gaps, and producing actionable roadmaps
  • Design cloud-native data environments across the full stack: ingestion, storage, transformation, and serving layers
  • Define and enforce data modeling standards — dimensional, data vault, and lakehouse patterns depending on client context
  • Own the technical architecture on 2–4 concurrent client engagements, collaborating with data engineers and analysts on the delivery team
  • Present architecture decisions and trade-offs to CTO, VP of Data, and other senior client stakeholders
  • Contribute to DataArchitect.co's internal architectural standards, playbooks, and IP development
  • Support pre-sales and scoping: translate client needs into concrete technical proposals

What You'll Need

  • 8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or enterprise architecture roles
  • Deep experience designing production data environments on Azure (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, ADLS) — AWS or GCP experience also valued
  • Strong command of data modeling: dimensional modeling, Data Vault 2.0, and medallion/lakehouse architecture
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python at an architectural level — you can write and review complex code, not just specify it
  • Proven ability to work directly with senior business and technical stakeholders
  • Experience scoping and delivering data platform projects from assessment through production
  • Excellent written and verbal communication — you can explain trade-offs clearly without jargon

Nice to Have

  • Tableau or Power BI experience at an enterprise deployment level
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks (DAMA, DCAM)
  • dbt experience in a production environment
  • Experience with real-time and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Event Hubs)
  • Prior consulting or professional services background
